The project “INSULANDER INvestigating the Strategic role of commUnication for resiLient islAnds copiNg DisastErs Risk management” focuses on the role of communication as a strategic key for disaster risk management and reduction of losses. Within this frame, three research lines are at the core of the project: a) the media and their role in risk communication; b) the accentuation of the role of the media in the diffusion or containment of attitudes related to disaster risk management and in their support of ‘back-channel’ communications, allowing large-scale interaction by groups and individuals in order to find information that would be difficult to obtain; c) the dimension of insularity and the level of risk awareness.
