The project in brief
CLIMETransition is a collaborative research initiative undertaken by three universities – UNICA, UNIFG, and UNIMOL – aimed at understanding the interplay between environmental and digital transitions within international markets. The project addresses concerns regarding carbon leakage, where international economic players may resort to practices to circumvent stringent environmental policies. To address these challenges, the project focuses on three key objectives: exploring the connections between twin transitions, international market flows, and carbon leakage practices; establishing a robust data repository and quantitative framework to predict drivers of twin transitions and carbon leakage risks at country and sectoral levels; and providing empirical evidence to inform policy design for stakeholders and policymakers. The multidisciplinary consortium involved in CLIMETransition combines expertise in computer science, economics, and environmental science to deliver actionable insights and policy recommendations at regional, national, and European levels.
